Phase 2 - Week 3:
With 14 employees working on Phase 2, even with delays from the occasional rainstorm, the crew still managed to cut over a mile of new trail. They roughed-in 5,696 feet and finished 5,398 feet of that total. They also completed rock work for several small watersheds and creek crossings.
The 14 member crew continues with the same construction strategy, which is to separate into multiple smaller groups and leapfrog each other. The finished trail now sits at milepost (MP) 9.48.

Construction on the Shirttail parking lot continues as planned. On Friday, July 24, Mesa County met with the US Forest Service and K&D Construction to discuss minor design changes. During the week of July 27, the contractor plans on establishing the drainage cuts and hauling in the next layer of material for the parking lot. The parking lot is still scheduled to be finished by Sept. 1. The restroom installation will happen shortly after.
To date, a total of about 2.12 miles of total finished trail has been completed — leaving approximately 12.62 miles to go before the completion of Phase 2.
Outstanding items for both phases:
Raptor restrictions are expected to be lifted by Aug. 1, which will allow Singletrack Trails to complete the construction of the remaining unfinished trail between MP 23 and 24.5.
