Mesa County Community Development will be hosting a series of open houses throughout the county starting Aug. 4 to give residents an opportunity to learn about the Resource Management Plan (RMP) process and how they can provide input on the document.
Recently, Mesa County, along with a group of citizens serving as a steering committee and Y2 Consultants, developed an RMP to support Mesa County’s policies on the use of natural resources on public lands. The RMP aims to balance private property rights while promoting and enhancing local values. The document will also help guide Mesa County’s comments during future National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) processes.
“Having a guiding document will help Mesa County submit reviews more efficiently and will help promote better collaboration with our federal partners,” said Mesa County Community Development Director Todd Hollenbeck.
