Mesa County Commissioner Rose Pugliese was unanimously elected chairwoman of the General Government Committee of Colorado Counties, Inc., at last week's CCI meeting in Denver.
Commissioners from more than 40 of Colorado’s 64 counties gathered at CCI on Thursday and Friday to elect steering committee officers to new two-year terms and to review legislation being considered by the General Assembly.
Pugliese was unopposed with bi-partisan support. Commissioners from across Colorado elected Pugliese to this highly influential board in part to give smaller, more rural Colorado communities a louder voice.
“I am honored to receive the confidence of my fellow commissioners to serve as chair of CCI’s General Government steering committee," Pugliese said. "It is important to effectively communicate the positions of our diverse counties to the Legislature and insure that rural and Western Slope counties have a strong voice in legislative issues."
CCI is a non-profit membership association whose purpose is to offer assistance to county commissioners, mayors and councilmembers and to encourage counties to work together on common issues.
