The Mesa County Commissioners this morning unanimously approved a grant agreement that will fund construction of a detention pond in Bosley Wash.

The grant agreement is between Mesa County and the State of Colorado Department of Public Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Today's approval was for $287,391, the first of three phases of the grant over the next several years. Total, the project will cost $2.8 million.

"Detaining storm water will help protect lives and property," said Carrie Gudorf of Mesa County. "We've been watching Bosley Wash for years, and it's continually a problem."

Storm water runoff has caused problematic flooding in Bosley Wash, over the years. Commissioners agreed a fix was needed and accepted the grant money because there isn't money in the county budget to fund such a project.
