The Mesa County Landfill is taking steps to ensure the next generation of landfill operations managers are well-trained by participating in the Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) training course. The event was hosted by the Colorado State Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) in Grand Junction on Feb. 6 through 8.

During the three-day event, Mesa County Compost Site Manager Shay Starr, Landfill Site Manager Cody Schmalz, and Regulatory Compliance Manager Ryan Kyle, along with other solid waste industry professionals, taught courses on landfill functions and operations.

To provide hands-on learning opportunities, 24 professionals toured the Mesa County Landfill in between training courses. The event provided an excellent opportunity to share knowledge, network with peers, and learn about the latest industry trends.

By educating the next generation of landfill operations managers, the Mesa County Landfill is taking an active role in maintaining a healthy community. The MOLO training course helps ensure that professionals in the solid waste industry are knowledgeable and well-equipped to handle the challenges that come with landfill operations.
