Every single day, Rachael, our courthouse dog goes to work to impact the lives of children in Mesa County. Have you heard her story?

Rachael is a black Labrador courthouse facility dog professionally trained to provide emotional support to help children cope with the trauma of facing an accuser or giving testimony in court.

The District Attorney’s Office employs Rachael’s handler, Ashley, but they are housed at the Center for Children which is where children meet law enforcement for the first time.

Victims have Rachael right by their side through the entire legal process including the forensic interview, medical exams, therapy sessions, and court proceedings to bring comfort and minimize the trauma of telling their stories.

Mesa County is grateful for the work Rachael does and the tremendous impact she has on our community.
