Grand Valley Bike Month 2021

Join Mesa County and many area partners for the 10th Annual Grand Valley Bike Month and pedal your way through May.

Bike with friends on many group rides, join in our month-long challenges or attend one of the free community events.

Challenge your friends, neighbors, and coworkers to participate in the Ride Challenge, in which riders can compete for the most miles on a bike or the most consecutive days ridden.

Participants can sign up for free on Love to Ride, then join the Mesa County Biking group and log your miles all month in three categories (Transportation, Fun & Fitness, or Bike with Kids) for a chance to win prizes. Sync your account with STAVA for easy ride tracking, or log everything manually. Either way, get out and ride! Snap weekly photos and submit for a chance to win the weekly Selfie Contest. Each week, riders are encouraged to try a different trail and bike route; participants can submit two photos per week.

Mesa County encourages residents to give up the keys on May 5 for Bike to Work Day and bike for transportation. Whether you bike to work, school, or your favorite local spot, there are many benefits when you bike instead of drive, including exercise, improved mental health, better air quality, and cost savings.

Join GROWL Agency for a Virtual Lunch & Learn, all about biking, on May 5 at 12 p.m., with speakers from Mesa County Regional Transportation Planning Office (RTPO), Public Health, and the City of Grand Junction. Topics will include favorite local rides, trail etiquette, and the new commuter routes. Attend via Zoom or watch on Facebook Live. Check social media for event links. When you bike for transportation, get rewarded with several Bike to Business discounts; click here for a complete list of deals. The Bike Month website also has several great tips for bike commuting.

After experiencing shut down for a year, Mesa County is excited to be holding three in-person events for Bike Month this May. Join our friends at Mesa County Public Library for the Bicycle Resource Fair on Saturday, May 1, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Then on May 22, head over to Las Colonias and Colorado Discover Ability for Handlebars for Health from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with our friends at St. Mary's Health and CDA. End the month at Mesa Mall on Thursday, May 27, with Community Bike Night in the JCPenney parking lot from 4 p.m.-7 p.m., featuring a bike rodeo and local vendors.

Show off your love of biking with our NEW Social Media Badges, which can be found on the bike month website, under the Toolkit tab. Whether you bike ten days in a row, spin to a local business, bike with kids, commute, or ride 100 miles in May, post the badge to your pages to show off your bicycle love.
