The Board of Mesa County Commissioners proclaimed April 19-23, 2021, as Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week in Mesa County and urges residents to join in on this special observance with appropriate events and displays of appreciation.

After-school professionals create relationships and expanded opportunities to help all students reach their full potential by enhancing education through enrichment activities that will help close the achievement gap and prepare young people for the future.

Mesa County is fortunate to have high-quality after-school programs, including Riverside Educational Center, Extended Hours, programs provided by Eureka! McConnell Science Museum, Grand Junction Parks and Recreation, and other District 51 school-based programs supporting students in grades K-12 during after-school hours.
