Mesa County is open!

Mesa County’s Free to Choose resolution goes into effect today, April 16. Businesses are no longer mandated to follow the State’s COVID-19 Executive Orders, nor are they subject to the Governor’s Face Covering Executive Order, except for agencies and businesses mandated by federal or state law or those that choose to require face coverings, social distancing, and other safety measures.

• Privately owned businesses may choose whether they will limit capacity within their facility and whether they will require face coverings, social distancing, or other safety measures.

• Businesses and agencies subject to corporate, federal, or state regulations will likely continue to follow COVID-19 restrictions set by their higher authority.

• Individuals may choose whether they want to continue to wear face coverings, stay at home, or frequent businesses that may or may not require face coverings, social distancing, or other safety measures.

• Mesa County Public Health (MCPH) encourages all residents to get vaccinated or wear a face covering in public when social distancing is not possible. It is important that individuals stay home when sick and get tested if experiencing COVID-like symptoms.

• MCPH will continue to recognize facilities through the voluntary 5-Star program, but they must continue implementing safety practices they’ve adopted to maintain the designation.

• Organizers of events are encouraged to implement social distancing and other safety measures. Events with more than 2,500 attendees must go through a plan review process with MCPH.
