The Board of County Commissioners proclaimed April 2021 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Mesa County and calls upon all residents, community agencies, religious organizations, medical facilities, and businesses to participate in programs and activities that help prevent child abuse.

In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Mesa County Board of County Commissioners planted a Pinwheel Garden in front of the old Mesa County Courthouse, 544 Rood Ave.

The Board believes our community can help children thrive by supporting families before they reach a crisis — prevention remains the best defense.

If you suspect child abuse or neglect, call the Mesa County child abuse and neglect hotline at 970-242-1211 or 1-844-CO-4-KIDS (1-844-264-5437) to reach someone who can help you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

All children deserve to live in a safe and nurturing environment free from abuse and neglect.

Below are pictures from the event.
