This week, Scott McInnis, Chairman of the Board of Mesa County Commissioners, presented to De Beque High School students on the functions and responsibilities of Mesa County Government.
Chairman McInnis hosted the class in the public hearing room of the old Mesa County courthouse, where he chairs public hearings and proceedings, to give students a glimpse and hands-on experience of what it is like to officiate and participate in an administrative public hearing.

Chairman McInnis talked to De Beque High Schoolers about his local government role and his experience, and the county's multifaceted operations. He also covered the differences among federal, state, and local governments.

Chairman McInnis provided an overview of the county's operations. He introduced students to various methods to participate in their Mesa County Government, and he covered how different agencies within Mesa County work together to make our county run efficiently.
