Mesa County and contractor, United Companies, in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Transportation, will begin an intersection safety improvement project on I-70B & F1/2 Road in Clifton on Monday, Aug. 10.
The improvements include the realignment of F1/2 Road on the east side of I-70B to improve traffic flow to a new traffic signal. The project also includes an extension of Smallwood Drive and a median island on F Road on the west leg of the existing traffic signal on I-70B. The upgrades aim to improve overall traffic operations. Speed limits will be reduced in the work zone, which is close to the main I-70 Clifton Exit 37.
“Much of the mobilization next week will involve utility work, so crews will be primarily working on the shoulders of the highway,” said Mesa County Project Engineer Josh Springer. “We encourage motorists to slow down through the work zone and pay extra attention to the project crews in the area.”
