Fill the Boot Days for Muscular Dystrophy Association

Kendall Montagriff from the Western Colorado Muscular Dystrophy Association and Connor Charlesworth with the Grand Junction Fire Department accepted the Fill the Boot Days proclamation in public hearing on Aug. 26, 2019.

The Board of Mesa County Commissioners proclaimed Aug. 29 – Sept. 2, 2019, as “Fill the Boot Days” in Mesa County.

The proclamation states:

"WHEREAS, the Fire Fighters of Mesa County and the Grand Junction Professional Fire Fighters L2808, are an example of public service and sacrifice, displaying the nobility to protect the citizens of our community; and

WHEREAS, they selflessly contribute their time and energy fighting for kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that severely limit muscle strength and mobility by “Filling the Boot” each year for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA); and

WHEREAS, in the past 10 years, the Fire Fighters in Mesa County including the Grand Junction Fire Department, Clifton Fire Protection District, Palisade Fire Department, Lands’ End Fire Protection District, and the Lower Valley Fire District, have raised more than $147,000 for MDA through the annual “Fill the Boot” campaign.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Mesa County Commissioners hereby proclaims August 29 – September 2, 2019, as “Fill the Boot Days” in Mesa County."
