On Tuesday night, former Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Janice Rich (right), former Clerk and Recorder Sheila Reiner (left) and current Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters (center) attended the 50th anniversary of the Colorado County Clerks Association’s (CCCA) banquet. CCCA is a non-governmental entity; its members consist of the 64 County Clerks of Colorado and their designee.

Earlier this week, Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters and staff attended the Colorado County Clerks Association Conference in Steamboat Springs. From left to right: Jessica Empson, Tina Peters, Angelica Jestrovich and Don Clement. The Clerk and Recorder's Office is responsible for issuing and recording marriage licenses, recording all real estate transactions, issuing liquor licenses, registering voters, conducting all primary, general and county elections, and, when contracted, municipal and school district elections. The Clerk and Recorder's Office also operates the Motor Vehicle Divisions in the State of Colorado for titling vehicles and issuing license plates.

Mesa County Coroner Victor Yahn is voted in as the Treasurer of the Colorado Coroner’s Association’s Board. The Board is in charge of training, as well as working to improve the Coroner’s system through Colorado legislation.
Mesa County and the City of Grand Junction are jointly working to reconstruct Orchard Avenue from Normandy Drive to 29 Road. This project is the second phase of improvements to pedestrian routes near Nisley Elementary as well as a reconstruction of the roadway. Construction began this week and will be completed in the fall. Improvements will include widening the road to three lanes, adding bike lanes, adding gutters, sidewalks, storm sewer, and streetlights through the entire stretch, on both the north and south sides of Orchard Avenue. Due to road construction on Orchard Avenue, Grand Valley Transit (GVT) will have to detour, which will impact a few bus stops. GVT will offer courtesy stops on Elm throughout this construction project. For more information, visit https://gvt.mesacounty.us/alerts/.

A Mesa County truck working on road maintenance up on Big Creek sinks into the ground as muddy conditions continue in the high country. The Uncompahgre National Forest remains closed at the Forest Service gate at the top of Divide Road. We will reopen the roads as soon as we can, weather permitting. Thank you for your patience.

Greg Linza, Facilities Parks & Fairgrounds Director, talks to Inside Mesa County participants about the new and expanded Veterans Memorial Park, a 9.4-acre multi-purpose lawn space at the Mesa County Fairgrounds. The park is the largest green space south of the Colorado River in the Grand Valley.

Mesa County residents taking the Inside Mesa County course learned about the county's geographic information system (GIS), an organized collection of computer hardware, software, data and people designed to collect, update, manipulate, analyze, and display many forms of geographically referenced information.
