Mesa County approved a letter to the Colorado River District’s Community Funding Partnership in support of Grand Valley Irrigation Company’s grant application for the Mainline 260 Lateral Piping Project.

The letter states:

“The Mesa County Board of County Commissioners (“Mesa County”) appreciates the opportunity to provide this letter of support for the Grand Valley Irrigation Company’s (“GVIC”) application for funding from the Colorado River District Community Funding Partnership for the Grand Valley Irrigation Company (“GVIC”) Mainline (“ML”) 260 Lateral Piping Project (“Project”).

Proper maintenance and continued improvements to infrastructure is vital to the optimal operation of water delivery systems. Piping the ML 260 Lateral will reduce evapotranspiration and seepage losses along the piped section. Further, piping the Lateral will reduce sediment build-up, decrease the potential for embankment breaches, and improve public safety.

Mesa County commends the GVIC’s commitment to find efficiencies, reduce maintenance and operation costs, and provide a reliable service to the citizens of Mesa County through responsible management of this crucial infrastructure.

Thank you for your consideration of this funding request.”
