When a tall, green, and undesirable weed pops up in the front yard people are quick to pull it from the ground, following with herbicide application to prevent more unwanted weeds. Some noxious weeds are disguised as beautiful flowers that were planted intentionally.

Noxious weeds are plants that are not native to our area. They do not have natural checks and balances to keep them in control and prevent them from becoming invasive. Due to these plants' aggressive competitive nature, they tend to out-compete our native vegetation by forming monocultures.

It may be tempting to allow these nice-looking weeds to stay put, but identifying and removing noxious weeds is important for protecting our native vegetation.
