Mesa County Commissioners approved a $159,339 agreement with OpenGov, Inc. to move its budget to an interactive and user-friendly online document to make it more accessible for the public.

The new budgeting and planning software will streamline the development and management of the County's annual budget and improve transparency and accessibility.

“Everyone will be able to utilize online budget tools and information to have better insight into Mesa County's finances and engage in the budget process,” said Mesa County Commissioner Cody Davis. “The software includes a transparency platform that will support the creation of online dashboards and other reports and web pages with information regarding the strategic plan, budget, and performance data.”

The web-based program integrates with the County's current financial system and includes modules for operating budgets, capital improvement planning, workforce planning, and the publication of a digital budget book.

Throughout the year, staff will be able to use the software to monitor budget to actuals, make mid-year budget adjustments, and develop budget scenarios and multi-year forecasts.

Mesa County will use the new software for the upcoming budget cycle starting July 1. The digital budget book will be available on Mesa County’s website in January 2023.
