The rehabilitation project on the Mesa-G.8-39.1 Bridge, located on North River Road over the Colorado River, east of Palisade, is nearing completion.

Bridge deck repairs are complete after weeks of concrete bridge deck removal and concrete pouring to extend the life of the bridge.

The old bridge railing was removed, and the installation of the new bridge rail and the installation of guardrails on all four corners of the bridge has been completed.

Crews finished sealing the major cracks and repairing some of the delaminated areas on the concrete bridge abutments and piers. They've painted some of the steel support structures and have applied a structural coating to the repaired curbs running the length of the bridge.

Last week, the north and south approaches to the bridge were paved, then a thin bonded epoxy overlay was applied, which will serve as the new road surface.

This involved using a layer of epoxy and then spreading flint stone chips on top. The process was repeated, providing two layers that created the new road surface for the bridge.

The bridge is tentatively set to be open in mid-May as crews clean up and take care of some final punch list items.

Project Schedule and Information
The project operates Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The anticipated completion date is April 2022.

Travel & Other Impacts
North River Road is closed to traffic at the bridge. Local access will be provided west of the bridge on the marked detour through Palisade.
