Mesa County is experiencing widespread community transmission of COVID-19 and, as of today, has transitioned to Level Red: Severe Risk, assigned through the State of Colorado’s dial framework.

In response to the new guidelines and restrictions, the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder’s Office will be implementing additional measures to improve social distancing at the Main Motor Vehicle office (located at the Mesa County Central Services Building, 200 S. Spruce St.) to reduce the number of in-person transactions. Residents are encouraged to make an appointment, or utilize online services, plates by mail, or use the drop box.

The following changes will take effect Monday, Nov. 23:

  • Fruita MV Satellite Office will be closed to the public (The City of Fruita has closed the building to the public).
  • Clifton MV Satellite Office will be closed to the public but will become a call center to support appointments at the Central Services Building.
  • Main MV at the Central Services Building will be open to the public by appointment only. Call (970) 254-4131 between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to make an appointment.

To contact the Mesa County Motor Vehicle Office, please call (970) 244-1664 or e-mail plates@mesacounty.us.
