The Board of County Commissioners proclaimed Sept. 17-23, 2019, as Constitution Week in Mesa County. The Board encourages all residents to reflect during the week on the many benefits of our Federal Constitution and American citizenship and to join in ceremonies and activities commemorating Constitution Week. The Clifton Fire Protection District encompasses approximately 15 square miles, which boundaries from 30 Road east to 35 Road and the Colorado River north to I-70. “We are confident that this vehicle would positively improve our operational capabilities for both emergent and non-emergent activities. As we currently do not have a pickup as part our fleet this would allow us the opportunity to overcome what we consider a service gap within our fleet,” Clifton Fire Protection District Chief Charles Balke wrote in a letter to Mesa County. |

School District 51, 11th-grade students got hands-on construction experience Tuesday at the first annual Western Colorado Construction Career Day hosted at the Mesa County Fairgrounds, 2758 U.S. Highway 50. |

Nearly 200 students participated in hands-on presentations and interacted with professionals about careers and opportunities in the construction industry at the Mesa County Fairgrounds. The event aimed to connect students considering trades and on-the-job training, after graduation, to help close the gap of the workforce in the construction labor market. |

On Thursday, Laura Page, Public Works Construction Group Manager, took a group of homeschooled youth on a 4.5-mile round-trip hike along the Lands End side of the Palisade Plunge Trail so they could see and learn how the trail is being constructed. The trek also earned them physical education (PE) credits. |

Palisade Plunge Update: Crews continue to clear thick brush on the trail. To date, a total of 2.9 miles of trail has been completed, and an additional 2.4 miles have been cleared and roughed in. |
