“Pete is very familiar with the operations and budget process of the county. We could not have hired a better person for the job,” Rose Pugliese, Chairwoman of the Board of Mesa County Commissioners, said.
Baier graduated from the University of Colorado with a master’s degree in public administration. He is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Colorado, and also earned a bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State College and an associate’s degree from Mesa State College.
"I am looking forward to working with the Board of County Commissioners and county employees to provide essential services to our community,” Mesa County Administrator Pete Baier said. “I am also looking forward to working with the residents of Mesa County and community partners in keeping Mesa County a great place to live."
Baier has been employed with Mesa County for more than 23 years and has served as Public Works Director for 20 of those years. During his tenure, he also held the positions of Development Engineer and Engineering Director. As Public Works Director, Baier managed projects such as the construction of the 30 Road Underpass, 29 Road Bridge, and was the Field Operations Manager for the West Salt Creek Landslide. He is currently overseeing the county's efforts on the Palisade Plunge project and the 29 Road interchange project.
