Mesa County Treasurer Sheila Reiner reminds residents that if your mortgage company doesn't pay your taxes and if you want to pay in two parts your first half payment is due this week! February 28th to be exact. Pay on the web at http://treasurer.mesacounty.us or get it in the mail right away.

Matt Younger with the Hazardous Waste Collection Facility loads a can of oil-based paint into a can crusher. Oil-based paint is considered hazardous waste, so the paint is drained into a larger drum and sent out for recycling. The Hazardous Waste Collection Facility accepts paint from Mesa County businesses and residents.

The calm after the storm: Solid Waste Management employees were treated to a lovely view of the Uncompahgre hills as they shoveled access and walking paths after the blizzard-like weather cleared up early last Saturday morning.
This week, at the Mesa Mall, the Public Works Division spoke with local children regarding traffic safety, safety when handling and disposing of hazardous waste, and road and bridge safety concerns. Pictured above are Road and Bridge staff members Jarrod Houck (left) and Heather Conder (right).
