Mesa County and the City of Grand Junction are partnering to conduct a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study for a new interchange on I-70 at 29 Road. This interchange has long been identified as one of the final elements of the internal beltway around the city to enhance local and regional connectivity.
The PEL Study will develop a thorough understanding of the existing and future transportation conditions and economic development opportunities within the project area to define the overall vision for the future interchange. The process will be coordinated with stakeholders and members of the public to identify issues and opportunities associated with the new interchange.
The study’s first public meeting is planned to be held on February 28th at Faith Heights Church, 600 28 1/4 Road, Grand Junction, Colorado 81506. The meeting will be conducted in an open house format from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. There will be no formal presentation, so guests are welcome to attend any time during the meeting to view exhibits and provide comments to project team members.
Additional information can be found on the study’s web page, and comments can be submitted online at: www.mesacounty.us/residents/transportation/29-road.
