A news release from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

On Monday, Sept. 10, the Colorado Department of Transportation will begin a roadway safety project on an urban stretch of I-70, in Grand Junction, between mile markers 30-32. Work on this project includes the replacement and installation of cable rails and guardrails along the center median and shoulders to bring safety measures up to current standards.

Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. During operations, eastbound and westbound traffic will have alternating lane shift closures and the speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH.

The project involves the removal of 4,520 linear feet of Type 3 Guardrail (median and shoulders), including end anchors and transitions, and replacing it with 3,045 linear feet of updated Type 3 Guardrail and 1,476 linear feet of Type 3 Guardrail (double), with new end anchors, transitions, and median terminals.

CDOT and contractor Cruz Construction expect to complete this approximately $711,000 project in December 2018. These operations are weather-dependent, and the schedule may change.
