Commissioners John Justman and Rose Pugliese, along with County Administrator Frank Whidden and other Mesa County leaders, joined over 350 commissioners and other county officials from across the state in Colorado Springs, Colo., Nov. 27-29 for the Colorado Counties Inc. (CCI) annual winter conference.

The three-day conference featured meetings on a variety of issues affecting Colorado counties. Those sessions included educational programs on alternative agricultural water transfer methods, cybersecurity training for elected officials, emergency management, funding public safety in counties, urban renewal authorities, and much more.

Keynote speakers at the winter conference included Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and economist Dr. Richard Wobbekind of the Leeds School of Business a college of the University of Colorado Boulder.

CCI is a non-profit association that brings all 64 Colorado counties together to work on shared issues, and whose purpose is to provide assistance to county commissioners and to encourage counties to work together on issues.

Four CCI-affiliated associations also held meetings and workshops during the conference, including the Association of Colorado County Administrators (ACCA), the Colorado Association of Public Health Officials (CALPHO), the Colorado Association of Road Supervisors & Engineers (CARSE), and the Colorado Human Services Directors Association (CHSDA).
