Mesa County Commissioners proclaimed November 2017 as Adoption Awareness Month and urge families who are able and willing to adopt children to learn more about adoption, because every single child deserves a safe home and a loving family to protect and care for them.

The Board of County Commissioners proclaims November 2017 as Adoption Awareness Month in Mesa County. From left to right: Commissioner Scott McInnis, Mesa County Department of Human Services Family and Children Director Kari Daggett, Jessica Johannes, Commissioner Rose Pugliese, Mike Johannes, Mesa County Department of Human Services staff member Dena Neujahr, and Commissioner John Justman.

Mesa County Department of Human Services Family and Children Director Kari Daggett talks about the need for more adoptive and foster care families in the community.

Mesa County Commissioners urge all citizens, community agencies, religious organizations, businesses, and others to celebrate adoption, honor families that grow through adoption, further an awareness of the challenges and issues of adoption and focus attention on those children who live in the shadow of an uncertain future while they await permanent families.

Soon to be adoptive parents, Jessica and Mike Johannes, share their experience and share adoption awareness in public hearing.

To learn more about adoption, visit the Mesa County Department of Human Services.
