Commissioners honor Navy SEAL, Remington Jordan Peters

In memory of Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Petty Officer First Class Remington Jordan Peters October 30, 1989—May 28, 2017

Peters grew up in western Colorado and joined the Navy after graduating from Grand Junction High School in 2008. He was a veteran of two combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan before joining the Leap Frogs and becoming part of their parachute team.

The Western Slope Blue Star Mothers, a group of mothers of children who are serving or have previously served in the military, attend the Commissioners' hearing to present Tina Peters with a Gold Star Flag.

The Gold Star Flag is presented by the Western Slope Blue Star Mothers to Tina Peters, left, to honor her loss. The Gold Star Flag recognizes a mother's role as the Country's strength and inspiration.

Chief Navy Counselor (SurfaceWarfare) (Ret) Dan Chermock shares Remington J. Peters left an indelible impression on him. Chermock added it was an honor to have been able to help Peters start his Navy career.
