When Mesa County government receives more revenue than the TABOR limit allows, the excess must be refunded to the taxpayers.
In 2021, the County received approximately $12.7 million in excess revenues and is now refunding it to Mesa County active registered voters.
Voters are encouraged to ensure their mailing address is up to date by Aug. 1, 2022, to receive a TABOR refund check. To check voter information, register, or update your mailing address, visit govotecolorado.gov.
The refund amount will be calculated equally according to the number of active registered voters as of Aug. 1, 2022. Currently, there are 103,878 active registered voters in Mesa County.
Checks are anticipated to be in the mail stream this fall.
