On June 7, during an administrative public hearing, the Board of Mesa County Commissioners authorized the continuation of the final reading and adoption Licensing and Regulation of Marijuana Business Businesses Ordinance to allow more input from Mesa County residents.
In November 2021, the voters of Mesa County passed Ballot Measure 1A County, which overrides Ordinance 11 and allows certain marijuana businesses. Amendment 64, and the Colorado Marijuana Code, specifically, C.R.S. §44-10-104(1)(a), enables counties to adopt resolutions or ordinances governing the cultivation or sale of marijuana.
The purpose of the ordinance is to have a single set of regulations for the efficient administration of marijuana laws and regulations applicable to both medical marijuana and retail marijuana to the extent that doing so conforms to the requirements of the Colorado Marijuana Code.
Copies of the proposed ordinance are available for public inspection in the Mesa County Administration Office, 544 Rood Ave., Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.
