Community members start IMC journey

Cody Davis, Chairman of the Board of Mesa County Commissioners, kicks off the Inside Mesa County class Tuesday afternoon, May 26, in the public hearing room inside the old Mesa County Courthouse, 544 Rood Ave. Davis spoke to attendees about a few needs assessments currently underway in our community to improve services for residents and increase their quality of life.

Last week, community members started their Inside Mesa County (IMC) journey to learn how local government works. IMC is a free eight-week course that gives residents an inside look into Mesa County's departments and budgets, including interactive presentations from elected officials and county departments and tours of several facilities.

The Board of County Commissioners kicked off the class by sharing information on county programs, services, and critical issues, such as mental health, broadband, and much more.

Mesa County Commissioner Janet Rowland talks to IMC participants about the new mental health resource hub, Grand Valley Connects, which aims to increase the utilization of community services and simplify access to services to address the most common problems for referral management systems: poor hand-offs, referral errors, lack of follow-up, finding the most appropriate service, and lack of coordinated care.
