Mesa County has embarked on developing a new Master Plan to replace the current 25-year old plan. Development of the new Master Plan will include the creation of topic-oriented Focus Groups to understand what the citizens of Mesa County want to see concerning the future of their County. Our goal is to involve as diverse a cross-section of citizens and leaders as possible so that the Master Plan will represent Mesa County today and into the future.
General topics are as follows:
1. Recreation, Culture and Tourism
2. Land Use, Infrastructure and Capacity Planning
3. Economic Development (breakout groups for large and small employers)
4. Sustainability and Resilience
5. Energy
6. Building Community Trust in Government and Civic Engagement
7. Transportation
8. Rural Lifestyle and Housing
In an effort to create a generous list of interested individuals, Mesa County Community Development is contacting leaders and organizations in the hope that you would forward our request to people in your contact group assisting us in reaching as many people as possible. The size of the Focus Groups will be limited to 20 to 30 people.
We apologize that everyone who expresses an interest may not be invited due to limited space. However, there will be many other opportunities for involvement, and we will make sure that everyone expressing interest will be notified when other opportunities arise.
We request that interested parties respond with up to three topics (listed in priority) that they would be interested in participating, why they are interested, contact information, and any affiliation or organization they want to represent.
The County will accept emails from interested individuals until Oct. 29.
Interested individuals should respond to: Info@mesatogether.com
The initial Focus Group meetings will be held virtually, tentatively, on Nov. 11 and 12.
