Oct. 6-16 save $10 on a cubic yard of Mesa Magic Compost
Did you know one cup of healthy soil has over 200 billion microorganisms? These living microbes break down pollutants and toxins, fix nitrogen from the atmosphere to the soil, and provide soil structure that increases water infiltration and water holding capacity. Adding compost to your soil in the fall can protect roots and beneficial organisms from freezing during chilly winter months. An application of fall compost also provides nutrients to your plants during the dormant winter months, reducing your need for hazardous chemical fertilizers and pesticides. To ensure your tired end-of-season soil is refreshed and ready for spring, dig in compost wherever you’ve removed spent crops and annuals or where you’ve planted bulbs. When cutting back your perennial flowers and shrubs, add a 2-3” layer of compost around the plant, but be sure to stay about an inch away from the stem.
