Today, the Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution amending Resolution No. 2021-46 referring to the Registered Electors of Mesa County, Colorado, a ballot question regarding whether the County may impose an excise tax on the first sale or transfer of unprocessed retail marijuana by a retail marijuana cultivation facility located within the unincorporated areas of Mesa County.
The correction to the ballot language approved on Monday, Aug. 30, related to the excise tax on the cultivation of marijuana, in particular the specific use of those funds.
On Monday, Aug. 30, the language on the agenda cover sheet correctly stated revenue would go to:
- Mental Health
- Substance Abuse
- Related governmental services for cultivation, manufacturing, or testing
However, the resolution adopted on Monday, Aug. 30, had old language that included parks, roads, and other uses of funds.
The Board needed to adopt an amended resolution today, Sept. 3, 2021, instead of waiting until the next available public hearing because the deadline to have the language to Elections is Sept. 3.
