Mesa County employees support St. Baldrick's Foundation
The St. Baldrick's Foundation and Mesa County held a special event Wednesday morning after the bike to work breakfast. Three Mesa County employees and an employee's husband "braved the shave" for children with cancer. The Mesa County Public Works Team has raised to date approximately $2000.00 for the foundation and are still collecting donations. Mesa County is proud to support such a great cause that directly benefits children in our community. Two years ago, Commissioner Rose Pugliese "braved the shave" while pregnant with her youngest child, to bring awareness to the devastating affect cancer has on the youngest members of our community. Thank you to those who have donated and to the shavees and fundraisers, Eric Brown, Dan Caris, Joe Gudorf, and Todd Hollenbeck.
On Saturday, June 25th, St. Baldrick's held their 5th annual head shaving event at Lincoln Park Barn. The Commissioner's Trophy was awarded to the Mesa County Public Works Department for their amazing efforts in raising money for childhood cancer research. Commissioner Rose Pugliese attended the head shaving event and awarded the trophy to Public Works Director Pete Baier, on behalf of the Public Works Department. Another public works employee, Travis Cole, and his son Grady "braved the shave" on Saturday in support of a local toddler, Hadlee Cole (Travis' niece) who was diagnosed with leukemia in April. The event was very well attended by the community and the St. Baldrick's foundation was able to raise money for childhood cancer research.
